My method

Built for how your brain actually remembers

I like to say most PA students have a little bit of a photographic memory, so my guides are built to use it. Same format, every time, until on exam day you can practically pull the page up in your head. You retain more, for longer, in less time.

One box, one condition

Every box is one condition, so you get a quick but complete picture of it, all in one spot. Look-alikes sit together, like rubeola, mumps and rubella, because on the exam, if one is an answer choice, the other two usually are too.

"Every single box is one condition."

Severitymild to severe
Gram +Gram −
ViralBacterial
Low labHigh lab
NerveMuscle
MaleFemale, pregnancy
AcidicAlkaline

Colors you learn without trying

Every color means something, and it means the same thing on every page. Green to red for severity. Blue for low, red for high. Blue for viral, red for bacterial. Pink for pregnancy. Purple for Gram-positive, pink for Gram-negative. Orange for acidic, blue for alkaline. You see them so often that on exam day, you just know.

"Every time I've seen this in my study guide, I know it's in the color purple. So I'm sure it's gram positive."

Highlights, used sparingly

I only highlight what you truly have to know, like the initial test versus the gold standard, so your eye goes straight to it. Pictures go in only where they show a difference words can't, like which cervix is open and which is closed.

"When something's highlighted, your eye's automatically drawn there."

?I'm a visual learner. Will this work for me?

That's exactly who I built it for! Boxes, colors, highlights and pictures do the remembering, so you're not rereading walls of text. In the app, every card shows the box straight from my guide, so practice looks like what you studied.

?Why not use the free study guides out there?

Most of them look the same on every page and repeat the same vague symptoms, so they don't play on your visual memory. Mine are formatted so each condition looks different.

?I already make my own guides. Is this still for me?

Keep making them. Mine are there for the weeks a block gets busy and you need to catch up. The app adds a board that tracks what you've mastered, questions grouped by topic, and Phoebe AI on top.

Why I made them

I can't study off slides. So since high school, I've turned every class into my own study guide.

"There's always that one person in the class that supplies a lot of the study guides. I was that person."

In PA school I shared them with my classmates, and everybody really liked them. Then students at other programs started using them. Now PA students all over the country, and in Canada, study from them.

The guides

12 pages, not 300 slides.

It isn't realistic to look through 300 slides again and again for every module when you have four going at once. My didactic guides run about 12 to 15 pages each. There are 24, for didactic year and every rotation, and all of them live inside the app.

"I LOVED how concise and well formatted the study guides were. There were many times we would have HUNDREDS of slides to go through and study for exams, but the study guides took all of the unorganized information from the slides and put them into a few pages of well formatted, organized information."

?Is it for didactic year or rotations?

Both! There are 17 guides for didactic year and 7 for rotations. A didactic guide covers one system the way your first-year course does. An EOR guide covers a whole rotation and follows the PAEA End of Rotation blueprint, so Pediatrics and Pediatrics EOR are two different books for two different exams. Each guide becomes its own board, laid out system by system like the guide.

?Does this replace the guides?

No. The app turns the guides into cards you practice and track. The full PDF guides are sold separately, and owning one unlocks it here.

?I already bought a guide. What do I get?

Your purchase came with a code. Redeem it and that guide's board and questions unlock with no subscription needed, plus a free week of everything else.

The app

My notes turned into your study buddy

Cards that turn gold

Every box in my guides becomes a card on your board. Get its questions right twice in a row and it turns gold; miss one later and it goes back, so you always know what's left.

Phoebe AI, from my notes

Ask about one topic and keep going until it clicks. It shows the cards it used, and flags anything from outside my guides.

Practice that knows what you missed

Every question is written from one of my cards and tied to it. Miss one and that card appears right under the answer, in my colors, so you know exactly what to study. Get a card's questions right and it turns gold.

?Does Phoebe AI make things up?

It answers from my guides and shows the cards it used. When something comes from outside them, it says so. You can also open any card and ask about just that condition until you're sure of it.

?Who writes the practice questions?

Every question starts from one of my cards and stays tied to it, so when you miss one you see the exact card to go back to, and when you get a card's questions right it turns gold. A second reviewer answers each question blind before it ships, and I keep reviewing the bank as students use it. They come in easy, medium and hard, so you can warm up before the tough ones.

?Does it work on my phone?

Yes! It runs in your browser on a phone, tablet or laptop. Nothing to download, and your progress follows you.

How I studied

What I tell every PA student

From my study videos
  • Start before the lecture

Look at the slides before class and start your guide from them. Lecture becomes your second pass, not your first.

  • Mornings are a secret weapon

"Studying for one hour in the morning is kind of equivalent to studying three hours in the afternoon."

  • Know when you'll stop

Four pages a sitting was my limit. Three things a day, and two buffer days before every exam. Knowing where you stop keeps it low stress.

  • Don't use every resource

"Not all study materials are created equal. Some help you learn faster, while others waste valuable time. Be selective and study smart."

Reviews

What PA students say about my guides

★★★★★

“When I was extremely overwhelmed for our neurology exam and had limited time to study, having this chart SAVED me… I'm a visual learner so this was extremely useful. I was able to score a high score even with studying a complex topic in a short amount of time.”

Emily, PA-S
★★★★★

“Phoebe's guides especially helped with my physiology final! I did great on my first phys exam, not great on my second and so I was SO scared for the final, but Phoebe's study guide for the phys final SAVED ME! I remember I needed a 90 to finish the class with an A and I got a 94! Legit all thanks to her study guide!”

Melina, PA-S
★★★★★

“Covered all relevant key concepts. Short, concise and well-organized. Spent less overall time studying and less stress.”

Parmeet, PA-S
★★★★★

“The study guides were super well organized and concise… Especially for the surgery EOR. The blueprint for that topic was really extensive, but reading the study guide helped me focus on the high yield topics, which made it much easier for me to learn the high volume of information much more quickly.”

Matthew, PA-S
★★★★★

“Phoebe's study guides were a life saver. I'm always impressed with her organization. They flow well together, either going from body system to body system, or from head to toe which helped when some powerpoints we had were all over the place.”

Marinda, PA-S
★★★★★

“There was a time when we had a 1 week where we had to learn a complete clinical medicine module, and then had to take the exam the following week. Without these study guides, I'm not sure I would've made it past that one.”

Andrew, PA-S
★★★★★

“The study guide was very helpful because it was easy to reference. Topics were organized and matches the PAEA Blueprint.”

Chidalu, PA-S
★★★★★

“They were well organized and to the point, where there is a lot of information but it's never overwhelming… I was able to spend less time studying due to the study guides, while getting a strong sense of confidence for my next test.”

Timothy, PA-S
★★★★★

“These study guides helped me survive didactic year of PA school! They were incredibly well-organized, concise, and covered all the relevant key concepts from lecture… They are also not overwhelming at all and very neat!”

Emily, PA-S
★★★★★

“These study guides were well structured to include all relevant information, concisely. With larger medical blocks, these study guides were especially useful to simplify important concepts. I often used them with a classmate for creating questions and reviewing all topics before an exam.”

Lyubov, PA-S
★★★★★

“I used the psych EOR study guide. It was well-organized! Covers all the concepts on the PAEA EOR exam. I appreciated that it was high yield information and acted as a strong foundation for my studying and was an easy reference tool while on clinical.”

Teah, PA-S
★★★★★

“The guides were good as a reference source for topics that were complicated, as many topics were simplified in a way that helped me understand the material in a way in which classroom slides were not. They were also clear, concise, and well organized and thus easy to utilize when studying.”

Questions

Before you start

Can this really help me get straight A's?

I can't promise grades. Nobody honestly can! But I did get straight A's, and this is what did it: studying visually instead of rereading, starting before the lecture, and a steady routine instead of cramming. The app is built around that. Add your exam date and your dashboard counts down to it and shows how much of that guide you've turned gold. And when something won't stick, pull up the card and ask Phoebe AI about it until it clicks.

Can I just use the free version?

Absolutely! I want this to be accessible for every PA student, so the free version is a real version and it should still improve your scores. You get seven practice questions a day from any of my guides, a study tip from me every day, and 20 messages a day with Phoebe AI.

Why is this better than other study tools or question banks?

Most question banks give you a random question and a wall of explanation. Mine are grouped the way my guides are, by body system and topic, so you can drill one topic, one whole guide, only the sections you've bookmarked, or everything at once, at the difficulty you pick. Miss one and the box it came from appears right under the answer, next to its look-alikes.

Why does this help me remember better?

You study the same format every time: same boxes, same colors, same layout. So your visual memory does part of the work, and on exam day you can practically picture the page. Practice then makes you pull it back out. A card turns gold after two right in a row and goes back if you miss it later, so your board always shows exactly what's left.

Will it cover everything in my lectures?

Every program teaches a little differently, so no guide matches your lectures word for word. Mine cover the high-yield material PA programs test, and the rotation guides follow the PAEA End of Rotation blueprints. When your slides and my card don't line up, ask Phoebe AI. It answers from my guides, shows the cards it used, and tells you when something comes from outside them.

Can I use it for PANCE prep?

Yes! These are the same notes I studied from for the PANCE. Practice questions from all 24 guides mixed together, or bookmark your weakest sections and drill just those until they turn gold.

Can I get a refund?

Payments aren't refundable, which is why you can start free, and why full access is $7 for the first week: you can try everything before the monthly plan starts, and cancel from your dashboard before day 8.

Is my data private?

Your conversations with Phoebe AI aren't stored, and your study records are never shared with advertisers. The privacy policy has the details.
